We worked with Cook Medical Ltd and Vistamed Ltd on an Enterprise Ireland Innovation Programme to develop the INCASE technology.  The aim was to identify solutions to problems those companies were facing in relation to the high costs of quality inspection, training of staff and responding to batch-of-one. We worked collaboratively for four years designing a solution driven by their needs.    As the system has been developed from scratch with the philosophy of minimal interference on the assembly processes and operators’ workflow, there is no need for revalidation of production lines.  Its Industry 4.0 and Digitalisation design principles also allow for the vertical and horizontal integration across the network, as well as providing substantial Big Data opportunities.  INCASE was proven on five different stent and catheter product lines.

INCASE works on any manual or semi-automated assembly line.  The people we speak to need a system that works with people unfamiliar on process.  The problem they face is how do we know the operators have followed the process, and how do we know they’ve followed it correctly.

INCASE reduces the costly overheads of post-assembly quality and integrity checks, and is more responsive than post production sampling necessary in a fast-changing environment to deliver zero-defect approaches.
